When the turnkey store stops being enough
Turnkey e-commerce platforms work very well for a simple catalogue sold at the same price to everyone. They become an obstacle as soon as you have per-customer pricing, quote requests, configurable products or shipping to calculate by zone and volume.
What a coded store makes possible
Pricing and discounts per customer or customer category
Configurable products: dimensions, finishes, linked options
Real shipping rules, by zone, weight or volume
Stripe payment, plus payment on invoice for trade accounts
No commission on sales, and no platform subscription
What you keep
The code, the data and the catalogue are yours. No exposure to a third party's pricing changes, and no feature disappearing because a vendor changed their mind.
Timeline and budget
From €15,000 and eight to twelve weeks, depending on catalogue size and the complexity of pricing rules.
The question to settle before any quote
Do you sell the same product at the same price to everyone? If so, a turnkey solution is enough and we will say so plainly. If your price depends on the customer, the volume, a negotiation or a configuration, then every workaround on a standard platform adds a plugin, complexity and one more dependency.
The calculation that decides, over three years
A hosted platform costs a monthly subscription, a commission on every sale, and often several paid plugins. Add those three lines over three years, at your real volume. Above a certain revenue, bespoke development becomes the cheaper option, not the more expensive one — and you keep the code and the data.
Below that threshold, we will tell you to stay on a turnkey solution. It is more honest, and you will call us back when the volume has changed.
The three screens that make the revenue
The product page, the basket, the checkout. Everything else matters less. That is where we concentrate the design: photos at the right format, legible variants, clear availability, shipping costs stated before the final step — the absence of that information is the leading cause of basket abandonment.
What a coded store makes possible
Online quotes alongside direct purchase, on the same product page
Pricing and discounts per customer or customer category
Configurable products, with interdependent options
Real shipping rules, by zone, weight or volume
Card payment through Stripe, and payment on invoice for trade accounts
Customer accounts with history and order repeat
Synchronisation with your ERP where it is the source of truth
What is not included
Written product descriptions, photography, logistics and Stripe fees. Photo quality affects sales more than any technical optimisation: budget for it, it is the most profitable investment in an e-commerce project.
Migrating an existing store
We carry over the catalogue, the order history and the customer accounts, and redirect every old product URL. A badly redirected migration loses the ranking of every product page, which is often an established store's main traffic source — and that traffic does not come back on its own.
What you keep
The code, the data and the catalogue are yours. No commission on sales, no vendor subscription, and no feature disappearing because a platform changed its mind about its roadmap.
